Anthony McGill joined the New York Philharmonic as Principal Clarinet, The Edna and W. Van Alan Clark Chair, in September 2014. Previously principal clarinet of The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra beginning in 2004, he is recognized as one of the classical music world’s finest solo, chamber, and orchestral musicians. He has appeared as soloist at Carnegie Hall with many orchestras, including the MET Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, and New York String Orchestra. He has also recently performed with the Baltimore, New Jersey, San Diego, and Memphis symphony orchestras and Orchestra 2001. As a chamber musician Mr. McGill has appeared throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia with quartets including the Guarneri, Tokyo, Brentano, Pacifica, Shanghai, Miró, and Daedalus. He has also appeared with Musicians from Marlboro and at The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and University of Chicago Presents. His festival appearances have included Tanglewood, Marlboro, Mainly Mozart, Music@Menlo, and Santa Fe Chamber Music. He has collaborated with pianists Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Mitsuko Uchida, and Lang Lang, as well as violinists Gil Shaham and Midori. On January 20, 2009, he performed with Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Gabriela Montero at the inauguration of President Barack Obama. He has appeared on Performance Today, MPR’s Saint Paul Sunday, and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. In 2013 with his brother Demarre, he appeared on NBC Nightly News, the Steve Harvey Show, and on MSNBC with Melissa Harris-Perry. In demand as a teacher, Anthony McGill serves on the faculties of The Juilliard School, Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Bard College Conservatory of Music, and Manhattan School of Music, and has given master classes throughout the United States, Europe, and South Africa. In 2016 he was one of five leaders honored with a John Jay Justice Award for being a “true champion of justice.”

Recognized by colleagues and critics worldwide as a leading chamber musician and collaborative pianist, Jonathan Feldman has performed on four continents with some of the world’s greatest instrumentalists, among them the legendary Nathan Milstein, Itzhak Perlman, Gil Shaham, James Galway, Sarah Chang, and Joshua Bell. He performed regularly with the New York Philharmonic as a keyboard player within the orchestra and as a chamber musician appeared in concert with the New York Philharmonic Chamber Ensembles and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. He was a featured performer in a Live From Lincoln Center with Gil Shaham, which was broadcast throughout the United States on PBS.

A graduate of Juilliard, Mr. Feldman joined the Juilliard faculty in 1989 and was chairman of the school’s collaborative piano department from 1991-2015. He joined the faculty of New England Conservatory in 2010. He has given master classes throughout the United States and the Far East, and has lectured at international festivals and competitions. He is the Director of Collaborative Piano at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, a post he has held since 2005. He has appeared in other summer festivals, such as Tanglewood, Bridgehampton, Music from Angel Fire, Bravo Festival in Vail, Colorado, Hidden Valley Music Seminars, and the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival.

Mr. Feldman’s most recent recordings, with his wife, New York Philharmonic principal bassoonist Judith LeClair, and principal flutist Robert Langevin, are available on Avie Records. He has also recorded for Angel/EMI, Columbia Masterworks, DGG, RCA Red Seal, Naxos, Nonesuch, Summit, and Cala Records. He can be heard on soundtracks for many movies, the most recent being Music of the Heart with Meryl Streep and The Man Who Wasn’t There, directed by the Coen Brothers.

Leelanee Sterrett joined the New York Philharmonic in June 2013; she currently serves as Acting Associate Principal Horn. She was previously a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and a regular substitute with the New York Philharmonic. Ms. Sterrett is also an alumna of The Academy, Carnegie Hall’s collective of young professionals and music advocates, and a former member of Ensemble ACJW.

A northern-Michigan native, Ms. Sterrett grew up in a musically enthusiastic family and attended Interlochen Arts Academy. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a master’s degree from the Yale School of Music. Her primary teachers include William Purvis, Douglas Hill, and Julie Schleif. Ms. Sterrett has spent summers at the Tanglewood Music Center, the Pacific and Sarasota music festivals, the National Orchestral Institute, and the Banff Centre for the Arts. She is a past prizewinner in the International Horn Competition of America and the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Program.

In recent seasons, Ms. Sterrett has made solo appearances at Carnegie Hall, with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and at the 2015 International Horn Symposium with her Philharmonic colleagues. She currently serves on the horn faculties of Rutgers University and New York University.

Mindy Kaufman, The Edward and Priscilla Pilcher Chair, joined the New York Philharmonic as flute and piccolo in 1979 at the age of 22, after performing for three seasons with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She received a bachelor of music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Walfrid Kujala, Bonita Boyd, and James Galway.

Ms. Kaufman has appeared as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic under the direction of former Music Directors Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur, and Lorin Maazel. For one season she substituted as principal flute with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Kaufman performs chamber music regularly with her colleagues in the New York Philharmonic Ensembles, and has performed at the Moab Music Festival, Mt. Desert Festival of Chamber Music, and Grand Teton Music Festival.

In September 2014, Ms. Kaufman was invited to teach in the inaugural two weeks of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy, created through a New York Philharmonic Global Academy partnership with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She previously taught at Columbia University. Mindy Kaufman has been a featured artist at the Japan Flute Convention and the National Flute Convention. A sought-after commercial musician, she has performed on more than 45 film sound tracks.

Oboist Anna Pennington has performed and given master classes across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. In addition to being an avid chamber musician, she has performed regularly with many orchestras, including the Jacksonville Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, Florida Orchestra, Mobile Symphony, Pensacola Symphony, Albany Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic. Festival appearances include the New Texas Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Victoria Bach Festival, and the Salzburger Festspiele.

Anna is passionate about pushing boundaries and has been involved in numerous recording projects and radio broadcasts over the years, including signing with EMI Classics as solo oboist of the Planets, a classical-fusion ensemble based in London. She was also appointed Assistant Professor of Oboe at the University of Southern Mississippi School of Music, where she performed and toured with the resident quintet, Category 5. Currently, Anna is principal oboe and concertmaster of the West Point Band, where she has appeared as soloist on several occasions.

A Texas native, Anna’s degrees are from the University of Texas, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Florida State University. Her mentors have included Joseph Robinson, Eric Ohlsson, John Snow, and Beth Sanders. In her spare time, she explores French film, the intersection of experimental music and other art forms, and hiking in the Hudson Valley.
